I keep having this repeated issue. A text box which was placed previously crashes the application when simply clicking on it to move, delete,  or change the size of it. Nothing fixes it and it can’t be deleted VERY ANNOYING. Just upgraded to the new version of Indesign (2017.0 - Build 12.0.0.81).

It is also happenig with a different textbox which shows an error in preflight, but when I click to view the textbox Indesign crashes.

I have tried the preferences reset and the save as IDML fixes and they don't change it at all.

This was not happening prior to the upgrade and I use InDesign extensively. Please fix or provide a work-around ASAP! Is it possible to revert?

Thanks!

When you say, "Is it possible to revert?", do you mean to revert to an earlier version of InDesign? If so you can easily reinstall any the earlier versions of InDesign using the Creative Cloud Desktop App. Instructions are found here.

This does provide a way to get back to the earlier version of InDesign, thank you. I have to wonder if the 2017.0 version is ready for deployment given this issue. Textboxes are likely the most common object used, and this seems to be an issue with many textboxes. My two cents...

Most of us are not having that problem with InDesign CC 2017. For those that do, this thread provides a workaround which works for many:
