Just updated 2017 to 2017.0.1 and all my workspaces and prefs have disappeared!

I have just updated 2017 to 2017.0.1 and all my workspaces have gone and prefs have reset to default. Of course I chose not to keep the previous version, and was assure all my settings would be retained.

Why have they gone? Where have they gone? I had several custom workspaces and settings. How do I get them back?

Ah, glad you play Backup!

Yes that should do.

Yes. And in the Adobe Photoshop 2017 Settings folder in App Data. Everything has gone except for defaults. It was strange because there were two updates in quick succession. First CC prompted me to update a whole lot of apps including PS 2017.0.1. Then the next day there was another PS 2017 update.

Check the file locations given here: FAQ: How do I migrate my saved presets from an earlier version of Photoshop or import/export them?

Check both 32 and 64 bit locations.

RPP They have been removed from AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 Settings and replaced with defaults. All gone. If the presets from the previous version 2017.0.0 are fully compatible with 2017.0.1. I will restore them from an old backup and overwrite the current settings.

Yes, glad I had a backup. I would still like to know why this happened.

Apparently. I copied the files from the old version backup to the AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 Settings.

It started OK with all my old settings. I just hope these settings are fully compatible and don't cause problems in future updates.

Your presets are very portable. What presets worked in CC 2015 can be moved to 2017, so a minor version change won't hurt anything.

That's really strange.  Could you be logged into your OS as a different user?

Are you using a Virtual Machine?

What operating system are you using? And has it recently updated?

This is Windows 10, normal boot, no OS update before PS update. Everything was running fine until last "minor" PS update. Still logged into CC, nothing changed there.
