What is Creative Cloud user name and passsword? Is it the same as my Adobe ID?

i have purchased the standalone version of LR6 and installed one in window 10 pc and one on Mac boook pro.   The updates are ok for both machines last several times.

No issue on update on pc.

Issue is the mac this time to update to 6.8., it  asked for:

"creative cloud wants to make changes - then user name and password "

i put in my adobe ID password and won't work .

how come ?

Any help appreciated

"creative cloud wants to make changes - then user name and password "

This should be your login username and password for your computer not your adobe account. The updater needs an account with administrative rights on your computer to install the update.

Perhaps you have not installed much software on your Mac.

All Mac apps (not just Adobe software) give you that dialogue box when you install software.
