I've recently started using InDesign 2017 and I'm having a lot of issues, particularly with crashes in certain areas.

One of the main issues is a Spell Check using English:UK

Simple words like 'fetal' are showing up as incorrect spelling.

This happened yesterday with other examples that I don't remember specifics. But I'll add more and more to the list as it continues to happen.

By the way - I know I can add to the dictionary - but basic words should be there already.

Are you sure that the "English: UK" language attribute has been added to the text? That's a requirement for the spell checking to use that dictionary.
