Recovering the start workspace

Has anyone experienced the abrupt disappearance of the start workspace? Working in Mac OSX 10.11.6 with CC 2015, I am unable to make it reappear using the usual checkboxes in general preferences. They are checked, but even after relaunching the program, the start workspace does not load.

Delete and reset the preferences of InDesign.
