3D TEXT Fade from left to right

I am having a problem making the 3D extruded text fade from left to right. I can get the 3D text to fade uniformly but when I try to put a luma TRKMAT on the 3d text it does not work.

Are There any other ways to get the text to fade from left to right?

Precompose the extruded 3D text.  Use the track matte on the precomp.

OK i found a better analogy. What i want to achieve is a linear wipe Like this (how to create a new linear wipe text in adobe premiere pro cc 2015 updated - YouTube)  but on 3d text
