3d camera track vs 3d object issues

So I have some footage that pans across the street and I want to add a car to the scene. I've 3d tracked the footage and added the camera, but when I adjust the 3D object's (car) rotation it won't rotate from the car's centre. The same goes for positioning. Please help!

These kind of visual effects are never easy to pull off. How did you end up doing the shot? Please let us know any details. It may help others.
