Anyone an idea why InDesign takes 10 minutes to open files.

We tried reinstallation and new mapping of network paths. both did not help.

InDesign is locally installed and data lies on a central storage share. We tried moving the data to a local Destination which did not solve the issue.

Many thanks in advance for your Support.

What version? Have you also attempted to trash preferences? Are the documents AND the linked graphics local on the hard drive when you tested?

I quite often have the same issue, with images placed on a server.

In my case, it 99.99% mean that the server is slowing down, for any reason.

Disabling the Preflight tool is usually very efficient in my case.

Of course, if you packaged locally and tested it, my comment is irrelevant.

You might have moved it - but did you relink it?

Once a file is linked in Indesign it will call to the linked destination, if the link is on the server it still goes looking there.

Try packaging a file to your desktop and disconnecting from any networks.

Once this is done make an IDML of the file and open that.

It will open as an Untitled file - save it to the correct folder and open that and see if the issue is still prevalent.
