LR 5 installation doesn't take

Hello, I hope someone can help.

I have LR 5 on one computer and am trying to put it on a new computer using the CD. Three times now I have gone through the installation steps, but the installation doesn't seem to take. When I click on the LR icon, what comes up, again, is the starting box for the installation process. I.e., "I would like to register, try..." etc. I must be doing something wrong, but can't figure out what it is.

Mac or Windows, and EXACTLY which version of the operating system?

Recent Mac AND Windows operating systems have been known to cause "odd" problems

Are you using a computer Administrator account with full read/write permission?

The LR version is 5.7.1. I'm trying to put it on my new personal computer with windows 10 business version, and assume I have full read/write permission.

There's no error message. It's just that whenever I click on the LR icon, instead of the program opening, the pop-up appears that initiates the registration/installation process. I can't seem to get to the link that simply opens the program.

If you purchased Lightroom 5 (did you?) then you should have a serial (do you?)

Yes, I do. I entered it into the boxes when I installed LR.

Where to find preference files for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5

If you look in that exact location, do you find the file Lightroom 5.0 Registration, or not?

I'll look tonight. I did register the program when I installed it on my other computer.

I decided to uninstall and reinstall the program. I don't think I did anything different, but this time it worked. I'm up and running. Hooray!
