Lasso tool won't exit selection in Photoshop CC

Hi there,

I have an issue with a lasso tool in my Photoshop CC - I use it a lot for selecting and coloring areas and I used to click outside the selection to release the tool. It just stopped working today. The only thing that worked for me seem to be a shortcut command + D, but I prefer using the clicking outside the selection as it is faster and allows my workflow to speed up. Any ideas how to solve this problem? I did an update of Photoshop and restart afterwards, didn't work. I work on MAC OS.

Thank you Simmer1! This helped! I did the resetting of tool presets first, that did not change anything, but resetting the tool helped! Thanks so much again!
