InDesign 2017 Character and Paragraph palettes are glitchy

Working with text in an Id 2017 document:
• Trying to adjust "space after" settings within a paragraph. Highlighting the value in the palette and typing in a new number ends up replacing the text in the text box with the entered number, rather than adjusting the spacing. In some instances it will completely delete the highlighted text.

• Character palette displaying the same font name, point size, and leading for multiple text boxes on a page even though each box is distinctly different. For example, highlight text in text box "A", and it displays font, point size and leading correctly. Move to text box "B" that's using a different font, larger type, and more leading, and the palette is stuck showing the values for text box "A".

Illustrator has had similar issues in the past.

For your second issue you can try clearing your InDesign preferences Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences or report a bug at Feature Request/Bug Report Form
