For some reason in CC 2017 I can no longer see what is outside the bounding box when scaling
CC 2015 Screenshot as example
Is this just a box I need to tick or is a preferences reset required?
I reported this a day or two ago: You have the GPU turned on (you have a Retina Display on your Mac). Choose View > CPU Preview to turn off the GPU.
It's a bug in the GPU feature. An engineer reported that it's a known issue.

For me it is working fine in cc2017.. hope you are pressed the shift button and drag

I was holding shift, although I can't see how that would effect the outcome.
I know it works in CC, I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm just saying it's not happening at the moment for me and I want to know whether the fix is as easy as ticking a box or if I need to reset my preferences.

Preferences>Interface>Options>Live Screen Drawing
With Immediate you should always see the content, with Delayed you have to hold on the drag

It's set to immediate, although I think you're misunderstanding.
When scaling past the bounding box, normally I can see what sits outside the box because it's got a decreased opacity. Now I can't see where the edge of the box lies.
The blue square is the bounding box for this image
This is it being scaled
And this is when the mouse is released.
I can't see how much to scale the image because it's not showing me where the frame edge is.

Ehm…, while moving/scaling the overflow is visible in less opacity.
Doubleclicking into the frame reveals the edged of the containing picture:

What about "Fill frame proportionally" ?
EDIT: Hey moderators, this is unacceptable. Every. Ducking. Post. And I even dont want to immigrate into the US.

To reiterate, I have no problem with the actual resizing, I know how to resize images. My problem is I can no longer see where it sits within the frame. If I want to rescale an image so it sits more centrally within the bounding box I need to be able to see where the frame edge is whilst resizing otherwise I have no gauge of how much to scale it.
Your image shows what I'm lacking. When you scale you can see the frame edge because of the diminished opacity of the overflow, this allows you to gauge how much to scale the image. I cannot see that, I just see the image at full opacity scaling outside the bounding box.
This is what you see
And this is what I would see in the same situation mid scale whilst holding the mouse down

Sorry about the moderation delays today. Adobe doesn't actually have much to do with moderation. A third party company scans by machine incoming posts and if its algorithms see certain traits, the message goes into a moderation queue that an ACP/MVP volunteer will look at. The system is meant to protect everyone from the menaces of the web, but unfortunately the system gets a lot of false positives-like yours. Not all posts are moderated we wouldn't be able to cope given the volume and the more you post to the forums the less likely you will be subject to a mod check. Hyperlinks from new forum users invariable attract moderation as we need to guard against inappropriate content. There is also a problem with the number of European moderators which causes the queue to be longer during the day until the American moderators wake up for the day and come on line. The reality is the Adobe forums aren't chatrooms and messages are not real time. Afraid the system is imperfect but generally the forums are free of spam, porn, hacking attempts and other such things.

The Live Screen Drawing preference affects the display, so you might try resetting your prefs if Immediate doesn't work.

I get from the posts that the image is "immediate" drawn, but with no transperency and no frame highlighted, that you dont know while scaling where your frame ends and the (invisible) content begins.
But I dont have any idea where to tune, fiddled with the preview settings and preferences. This is an odd error. Maybe the graphiccard-driver has to be updated…

I was really hoping I wouldn't have to reset my preferences. It just seems to be the go to for any glitch.

It's a good practice to get your prefs set then copy and save the ID prefs folder, then you can clear and reset your prefs to your preferred state.

I would like to suggest a "packaging" of all customized setting. I was trashing my prefs one day, not knowing Printer-Presets and PDF-Presets get lost. Although I managed to export my workspace and save my shortcuts, its a drag "to think of all". Also after a clean installation i would miss my scripts and startup-scripts.
Since I keep reading "Trash the prefs" and InDesign gets stuttering by update/old pref i see Adobe to check the prefs for accuracy and compatibility with older installations, throwing a dialog to keep me informed "Couldnt match Pref XYZ: "Checkbox XYZ: Yes".

…it would boil down to save application-customizations to the AdobeID. It would be awesome to sit down anywhere and continue working like a boss.
And its not too late, although it would be a big task for Adobe. But if the demand calls for it…it has to grow.
It was onetime in the WorldOfWarcraft, where you could log onto another character or change machines, and being busy setting up your enviroment. But Blizzard was listening, so the action-bars and client-setting got shifted into the character-save-file in their cloud. Soon later it shows macros were missing, so that came too. Now i could log onto any machine and continue my expirience anywhere…if i wasnt too keen on addons.
BTW: Thanks, Adobe, this really helps, every time.

If you don't have an incremental backup system backing up your user folder, I was suggesting making a copy of your Version X folder after you have set your desired prefs. The folder contains your workspaces and printer presets. PDF presets are not lost when you trash prefs, those presets are saved in /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings

Thank you Rob, now i remember: pdf presets were untouched, youre are right.
But all I say is that "user friendly" imports/exports (workspace, shortcuts, printer-presets, …what about customized page setups, where are those stored?) is not very handy when you have to remember poking every export/import again and again.
Also for some of my collegues every filepath outside their asset-bucket is rocket sience – not very slick to know where is what and what to copy/overwrite.
Also, Rob, whats wrong with this forum? Every post gets moderated (drives me nuts)…how did you become a ACP? Im not very keen on answering others to help or join a discussion like this…
EDIT:
Yeah, this is a quick response. But as for a discussion – its BS (…if every post you post get 'moderated', and you dont know why).

They should all be in the Version folder. You have the option of saving scripts in the Version folder (user scripts in the scripts panel) or you can save them in the InDesign Application folder (application scripts in the Scripts panel). I believe print and document presets are in InDesign Defaults
You don't have a backup system for the user folders? A good incremental backup app like Retrospect would let you go back in time and retrieve the prefs. It would also be fairly easy to script a backup of the ID prefs, but other than that you can file a feature request.
I don't know anything about the forum mechanics, maybe a moderator can help.

It is a little bug that had to do with using GPU acceleration or not, try to toggle this preference and see if that makes a difference. Of course as always it is a 'patient user mode' so you have to wait a second before dragging to see this effect 😉
