I assume you mean the Canon 5D Mark IV?

That camera was first supported in Lightroom 6.7

If you have Lightroom 6 then update (for free) to Lightroom 6.8 (current)

If you have an earlier version (5 or earlier) then you have a few options:

  1. Join the Cloud and get Lightroom CC 2015.8 (Cloud version of 6.8) which will open those Raw files, or
  2. Purchase Lightroom 6 standalone (non-Cloud), or
  3. Free option: download the free Adobe DNG

Your camera is too new for the version of Lightroom that you have installed.

Please state the exact version NUMBER of Lightroom that you have installed. Do not state words like "up-to-date" or "current".

Please state the exact make and model of your camera. (There is no such thing as a Canon Mark 1v as far as I can tell).

Your camera requires Lightroom CC 2015.7 or Lightroom 6.7 as a minimum in order to support that camera. What is the exact version of Lightroom installed on your computer?

Thank you for your relies.

I have just purchased Lightroom 6 stand alone and I am still getting the same error message when I try and import raw files from my Canon EOS 5d Mark iv?

In Lightroom 6, click Help (Win) or Lightroom (Mac) > About Lightroom to see which version you're currently running.

It probably shows a version earlier than 6.7 (e.g. 6.0).

Use Help > Update to update to version 6.8.

If that doesn't work, download and install 6.8 from

Install Photoshop Lightroom

At the bottom of the Help menu there is an "About...." choice.  When you select that, what is the version number?
