Motion Path start at one nul layer and end on another nul layer?

Hi

I have a cartoon spaceship that I want to show in a "cartoony" outer space location.

I have 3d turned on on all layers and am using a camera in the foreground.

In the foreground is earth, with the moon and other planets each on their own layer, going into the distance.

If possible I want that little spaceship to follow a path starting on earth and wandering through the galaxy to Pluto -- attached to a motion parth.

So my question is, can a path start on one Null layer and end on another null layer -- in the 3d "world"?

Using the latest version of After Effects CC.

Nothing stops you from simply dialing in the coordinates in whatever position keyframes.
