Shape layer edges not opaque

Can someone tell me why shape layer isn't one solid colour throughout? (This shot is zoomed in - that shape you see is 8 pixels tall, and the top and bottom pixels aren't the same shade of grey as the rest.)

Sub-pixel positioning + antialiasing. Nothing wrong. Simply adjust the position accordingly to fall within full pixels, i.e. set your Y position value correctly.

If you are working with parametric shapes (rectangles) then whole numbers and even numbers are best. Check the values of the shape layers by selecting the layer and pressing the u key twice. If you have odd numbers for a rectangle, 121, 267 for example then you will either have to change the dimensions to an even number or adjust the anchor point or position of the Transform Rectangle settings to half pixel values. The scale of the layer and the scale value of the shape (Rectangle 1 Transform Scale) must be at 100% for this to work.

If you are using paths then you have to just do the best you can or use guides. Video is always based on a pixel grid and if you are not perfectly aligned and you have antialiasing turned on (required for the best image) the edges will always be interpreted. It's normal and nothing to worry about if the images are moving.
