Lightroom crashes when opening “Preferences” or selecting B&W

This is what I get whenever I try to open preferences or change a photo to Black and White. Hope someone can help me out

So, I followed the instructions. When I opened lightroom and reset, none of my photos were in my catalog and it crashes the same way. I also installed and reinstalled lightroom.

When I opened lightroom and reset, none of my photos were in my catalog

Sounds like LR is now opening a different catalog, not the catalog you formerly were working with. Do File > Open Recent to open recent catalogs you've opened.   If the catalog you were formerly using isn't listed there, use Finder to search your computer for files ending with ".lrcat".

The correct catalog was listed on the screen, I did also try to open it manually. But still crashes when I select preferences anyway….. really weird…..

I don't have any more suggestions. There's a Windows LR bug with similar symptoms having to do with Windows settings, but you're on Mac. Perhaps someone else has an idea.
