Hi
mac OS Sierra 10.12.3
LR 11.5.7.1
Camera RAW 8.7.1
Canon EOS 1300D camera using RAW files
I give photos coaching and this morning I tried importing some RAW file from a student using a Canon 1300D camera. On import I see "Preview not available for this file." If I then click on import for these images I get the error message "The file is not recognised by the RAW format support in Lightroom."
I have downloaded the latest Camera RAW and run the installation file which clearly has not installed.
My RAW files from a Canon EOS 7D open without problem on my system.
Is there a solution besides upgrading to CC?
Thanks
Stephen
You need to purchase either Lightroom 6.5 or Lightroom CC 2015.5 (or later).
The free alternative is to use the Adobe DNG Converter, convert your RAW to DNG, and then import the DNG into your Lightroom

I have downloaded ver 6.8 and am running through the installation. I have entered my LR serial number as listed in my accounts. This number though is not accepted and says it is invalid. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Lightroom 6.8 is a paid upgrade from 5.7.1.
Have you purchased the upgrade and obtained a Lightroom 6 serial number?
Or are you entering your version 5 serial number into version 6? That won't work.
