Indd file does not open

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with an indd file. My collegue made it yesterday. She saved and closed it. When she wanted to add something later, it did not open.

When I try to open the file a screen pops up, saying ".. searching for linked file 4 of 6" (my InDesign is in Dutch, so I don't know the terms the English version uses). And thats when it stops working.

I've tried updating my InDesign version from last years to the most recent 2017 update. Did almost all the steps on this page: Troubleshoot damaged InDesign documents

Did not do the steps where the file should be opened, because it does not open at all. I tried to make an idml of it, didn't work either. I am working with Windows 10.

I hope someone can help me with this problem!

Hi,

There are multiple factors both internal and external to InDesign application that can lead to document corruption. However, I can take a look and see if the file can be repaired. Please email your InDesign file to santalwa@adobe.com and I will take a look at the document.

If the file is larger than 10 Mb, you can zip (and password protect) the file and upload to Creative Cloud account (or Dropbox) and send us the document link.

There are corrupt stories in the document which needs to be removed to open document. Method to recover depends upon the severity of corruption. One of ways to export into idml and save again.

How did you eventually exported the document to idml? By using a script? Because I could not open it at all..
