inDesign hangs for half a minute or so when I go to edit/highlight text

InDesign will hang for half a minute or so every time I go to edit/highlight text.

It seems to happen with Adobe Garamond Pro.

I recently got a brand new, top spec iMac because my old one died. Because of this I thought I'd stop using Font Explorer (which I used as a font manager on my old iMac) and started using Font Book. Could this be what is causing the issue? Or would it be something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Can you please try the following workaround and see if it resolves the issue?

Picture15.png

Navigate to Preference(from edit menu) ->Advance Type -> Type Contextual Controls and disable the first preference “Show for Character alternates, Fractions Ordinals and Ligatures" or turn off both the preferences.

Also if this solves your problem, can you please mail me your document at amaarora@adobe.com

Thanks,

Aman

How many fonts do you have installed? Try to work with lesser fonts.

Thanks Aman, that has solved the issue.

I also checked it on another document that has the same issue and it's worked there too.

I unchecked the first option only by the way - the 'Show for Character Alternates...'.

Thanks again, you have eliminated what was becoming a very frustrating problem.
