I am looking to buy a Mac Pro to use for general internet use but also Retouching. I want to be able to work on fairly large Tiffs on Photoshop CC. I will using filters such as liquify and images in 16bit. I want them to run smoothly and quickly.

I have a few options and would use an external hard drive for storage:

The base Quad-core model with added ram to 32GB

The six-core model with 16GB ram

The six-core model with added ram to 32B

The base Quad-core model comes with only 12GB ram but I am debating whether to start with this and add cheaper Ram.

What do you guys think is most important for Photoshop to have 6-core or more ram?

Thanks!
