this is not uncommon. these templates usually involve a lot of calculations and 1:30 min is not that short for Ae - 3 hours could be a reasonable amount of time relative to your project. what exactly does this template contain? show us. also show us your rendering workflow and output settings.

It says something about being 4k, so I would expect some longer rendering. Agree, though. Looking at the preview clip I don't get the feeling that this should render 3 hours, more like 30 minutes...

What resolution are your photos? If they are straight of camera, they may be too large. Most point-and-shoots can shoot with megapixels in the teens. 4K video is around 8.5 megapixels. Unless your project is using a lot of scaling, you can reduce your source files down to 4k resolution and speed things up.

Estimated time is calculated on the fly so it really means nothing. If you're going through a series of computationally heavy frames it might show a high estimated time based on those frames but once you get past them the estimate might drop down to 5 minutes. Then if you hit more heavy frames it might jump back up.
Like everyone said it's hard to say without knowing all the possible factors. The size & number of photos you inserted into the pre-existing project are probably the least important factors. There's loads of stuff going on around those photos that can be extremely complicated and taxing. That's why you got the template instead of doing it yourself, right? You should probably contacted video hive support or hitting their forums.
