What means "myimage.jpg?crc=29892"

I'm a developer and have to program on html files that were generated using Muse.

I notice that all images are shown with a parameter CRC like:

myimage.jpg?crc=29892

anotherimage.jpg?crc=758945

What is CRC parameter? Can I remove it?
