When I close a document after saving or without saving, InDesign CC 2017 will crash. The documents are saved on a Macintosh server, as are all of the linked files. I use Suitcase Fusion version 18.2.1for font management. The documents are created for print publishing and do not have any interactivity built into them. Occasionally it will crash when I create a package. I have tried everything I could find regarding InDesign crashing – resetting the preferences, clearing font cache, removing and reinstalling all of my fonts. It does not seem to be related to any linked files or specific fonts. It can be an older InDesign document or a newly created document and it will always crash.
The only workaround I have found is to have multiple documents open and always leave one document open, and wait a minute or so after saving to close the other documents. Using this method I can go for a couple of hours without crashing, but if I open and close documents as you normally would it will crash every time.
I have had continual crash issues on ever since upgrading to Indesign CC, but this is the first time I have not been able to find a way to fix it.
Phillip,
There's a long thread discussing the InDesign crash issue here:
InDesign constantly crashing since 2017 update.
Some Adobe staff/engineers are engaged there and might want to work with you in examining some crash logs (if you can grab them).
I hope you are able to get it resolved!
