How do I consistantly see what I'm drawing when I'm drawing my mask...Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't....Is this a GLITCH or....

Here is a video.

I have 2 layers.  I'm trying to crop out the subject to take put in the clouds.  I want the clouds AND the human.  So in order to do that I need to crop.

The problem is...I cant see what I'm drawing!

SOMETIMES I can see it and SOMETIMES I can't!  What are the conditions that I can or can't see it?!

OR IS THIS A GLITCH?

I'm sorry, I'm new to this area.  I needed help in Adobe Premiere, not Photoshop.  This was a Premiere issue.
