I'm having trouble using the selection tool to move very small objects on an indesign document (tiny circles to represent stars). It automatically turns into a scale tool so scales them rather than just moves them. Can anyone help with that? Thanks
Hey! I think there isn't a thing like hiding the bounding box in InDesign like it's possible in Illustrator.
But, there's a simple solution / workaround you can follow:
1) select the star you want to move with the 'normal' Selection Tool.
2) you can temporarily switch to the direct selection tool while holding "A".
3) When using the Direct Selection Tool you won't see a bounding box, and you can just move the object
4) Release the "A" button again, and you'll switch to the normal selection tool ag

Of course you can also manually switch between Direct Selection Tool and the 'normal' Selection Tool, but the workaround will be faster when you've got to move multiple objects.

Zoom in and then work on the object.

Thanks Bob, but the problem is I need to be zoomed out to copy and paste the object repeatedly to create a starry sky. Rob suggested using the other selection tool and that worked fine. Thanks for your help!

Well, here's another idea. Zoom in. Way in. Then from the Window menu, choose New Windows for (file name). Then set them up side by side. You can have the full view in one windows where you need to do detailed work, and a more wide open view in the other.
Anything you do in one will be reflected in the other. It's a great feature that is badly overlooked for workflows like this.
