How would you separate a line of dots into individual items for coloring? Can you turn the dots into objects? I need to recolor some of the dots from black to white to allow type to be placed.

Hello,

Simply select your dotted line and use the menu Object/Path/Outline Stroke.

At this moment, you have a compound path.

Select all your dots and apply Object/Compound Path/Release.

Now, you can select each dot and recolor it.
