Mark iv files are incredibly slow

Importing a LR catalog & files from a laptop onto an Imac and the import time is remarkebly slow. at least 3 times slower than Mk 3. I am aware of the increased file size. Anyone else encounter the same issue?

Were file canon files previously in a LR catalog on the laptop?

If yes, do you need to do a second import (usually a bad idea) or would copying the catalog to the new computer be just as good?
