Looking for a good Collage Tutorial

Morning/Afternoon guys,

Just wondering whether anyone can point me in the direction of a good tutorial in order to create a college graphic. I am trying to create something similar to the below:

I am ok with cutting it all out and putting it in the correct places, but i'd like to know how to add the extra effects.

Any help would be awesome

IMO that too general of a question books can be written on effects you can make with Photoshop.  Check out Amazon Photoshop book list.
