Strange InDesign Icon - Stuck

So I'm working in InDesign, and I get this stranger little black cursor with three pages, a horizontal and vertical line on top and left side of the cursor.. this thing won't go away.. any ideas?

Try restoring your InDesign preferences:

Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences

So I have had two replies to my question.. one to restore my preferences, the other to check my file association. Come on guys! My post is only one paragraph and in it I mentioned directly that I did both! Appreciate the effort however.
