I currently used LR 6. If I start using the adobe cloud software monthly membership, will a new or second version of LR be installed on my computer and will I lose my current catalog?

No, there will not be new software installed on your computer. You will simply sign into the software differently.

No, you will not lose your catalog. The Creative Cloud version of Lightroom uses the same catalog.
