The previous files in the library from 2015 to 2016 are no longer visible on the on the left hand side of the screen. Only the recent files are visible.
Files visible on the left of the Library module? I'm not sure I understand, normally you see files visible in the middle of the Library Module. Can you show us a screen capture of what you mean?
Also, please state your operating system version number and your Lightroom version number (go to Help->System Info).
