I recently upgraded to LR CC to get support for my Nikon D7200 and D500 NEF files. Previously I used Nikon ViewNX 2 to edit and assign ratings (stars) to the files before I imported them to LR CC and the ratings showed up OK. Now I've upgraded to Nikon ViewNX-i to resolve problems with lens distortion control issues and now when I import the files files to LR CC the ratings no longer show up. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks
I downloaded ViewNX-i and did a little Googling. ViewNX-i saves edited metadata like ratings to proprietary sidecar files stored in the subfolder NKSC_PARAM. As far as I can tell, the only way to get edited metadata out of the clutches of ViewNX-i is to export the photos as TIFFs or JPEGs, which will then contain the edited metadata in industry-standard fields.
I found lots of complaints in various forums about this. Don't know what Nikon was thinking here. But there doesn't appear to be any

Thanks. I looked at the list of NTSC files, which would be the ones that I
had assigned ratings, and tried to print them so that I could then go into
LR and duplicate the ratings. Unfortunately, the directory listing program
that I have only sorts on the first 3 digits of the file names and
rearranges them so that 1001 comes after 100, 1002 after 102 etc. Do you know of
any way to print the contents of a directory so that this doesn't happen?
It's still going to be a time consuming problem since I used ViewNX-i on three
1500 photo files before I realized the problem! It's inconceivable to me
that Nikon would not think that users also use Bridge, PS and LR and put the
data into the metadata where it belongs.

When you sort the photos in LR by filename, the order will be 100, 101, 102, 1000, 1001, 1002, etc. in Library, do View > Sort > File Name.

Sorry, I didn't state it very well. In LR my actual NEF files are sorted
just fine. It's the contents of the NTSC file, which will not display in LR,
that I need to print in the correct order. I can view the contents of the
file by dbl-clicking on it but don't know how to print the contents other
than a directory listing, which messes up the sequence.

I don't think printing out the .nksc is going to help -- it appears that the rating is stored within that file in binary format. There is plain-text rating field:
<nine:Rating>0</nine:Rating>
But it doesn't appear to get updated as you change the rating in ViewNX-i and save out your changes.
