Wanted to try C4D for the first time.

The steps i took:

Started AE > File > New > Maxon Cinema 4D file > Save As > gave file name > Save > Cinema 4D Lite opened > dragged C4D Lite file to new comp >

Screen Shot 2017-03-02 at 19.14.15.png

Switched to C4D Lite > added cube and saved:

Screen Shot 2017-03-02 at 19.28.25.png

Switched back to AE:

Screen Shot 2017-03-02 at 19.14.15.png

As I understand this is not supposed to happen. I'm supposed to see the cube in AE.

Why is this happening and what must happen to make the cube visible in AE?

I did update C4D:

Thanks and advance for any feedback on this issue.

What happens if you make a text layer, shape layer, or new solid and put it underneath your C4D layer?

Also, what are your composition settings? I would guess it's made a composition with a background color of blue (for whatever reason).

What, exact, version of AE are you using?

If you're just starting out with C4D Lite, I would highly recommend going through this free course. (You may have to sign up for a free account, but it's totally worth it.) Cineversity is put on by MAXON USA and that specific course is taught by my favorite C4D instructor.

I did check out Cineversity, and it looks very interesting. Didn't sign up yet, though. Maybe after AE and/or C4D Lite work(s) as it (they) should.

Hmmm. What GPU do you have?

Try switching your renderer from "Software" to "Standard (Final)".

As I understand there shouldn't be a blue background.

Looks like that was it.

Just make the BG color black or toggle the transparency grid.

Don't forget to mark the correct answer to close out the thread.

For the record, I would suggest not working with that preset C4D gives you - 800x600? no thanks! Again, follow that tutorial series I linked on how to work with it.

Now it looks like this:

Aren't the perspective lines supposed to be visible?

I think they made a change on that in CC 2015.3 or CC 2017, but I don't remember offhand. (I use the full Studio version of Cinema 4D these days, so I haven't used C4D Lite much.)

Hopefully an experienced C4D Lite user can unravel that mystery for us.

Thanks for your much appreciated feedback.

Hmmmm, I'm seeing the grid lines on my end. Maybe it's a GPU thing. To be honest, I don't particularly care for the grid lines anyway.

I'm hoping it's something simple. Like the blue background thing.

"Houston we've got another problem that needs to be solved".
