Photoshop Starting Issue

Hello there,

Since the latest 2017 release I've been experienced an issue while starting Photoshop.

Beside the fact it is really much slower than its previous version it just constantly gets on top of everything. I can Alt + Tab or manually click on other software/processes/tabs I was using as many times as I want, Photoshop will just pop back on top of them.

The result is I have just to sit with my arms crossed waiting till PS has loaded and, since it became even slower, I find this rather annoying.

In addition to that sometimes (quite rarely) PS gets stuck and almost freezes. I fix this by purging all. Never had this issue before.

I think that doesn't depend from my hardware/OS since I run all other software, Adobe and non, with ease. Anyway, in case it may help, here my specs:

Clevo Mobile Workstation

Windows 7 Ultimate

CPU: Intel i7-4900mq 2.8 Ghz

GPU: nVidia Quadro K3100m (latest drivers updated)

SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB

HDD: Hitachi 1TB 7200 rpm, 32 Mb cache

Full HD Screen 1080p, 90+% Color Gamut

I'm using PS as well many other Adobe Products since 11 years, daily for my job.

Again, that's not really a "problem" but something I'd be glad to have fixed.

Thanks for your time and consideration,

Carlo

You do not report bug here Adobe has set up a site for reporting bugs.Photoshop Family Customer Community

You use this site to get help from other user to help you work around bugs.

What is it that makes you fancy cc 2017?

There does seem to be a windows window Focus war raging when Photoshop starts.  IMO  CC 2014 is the Photoshop creative cloud version with the least bugs.  As a Subscriber you can install all the Creative Cloud versions of Photoshop.

CS6  Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.1.2 (13.1.2 20130105.r.224 2013/01/05:23:00:00) x64

CC Adobe Photoshop Version: 14.2.1 (14.2.1 20140207.r.570 2014/02/07:23:00:00) x64

CC 2014 Adobe Photoshop Version: 2014.2.4 20160106.r.348 2016/01/06:23:59:59 CL 1058251  x64

CC 2015 Adobe Photoshop Version: 2015.1.2 20160113.r.355 2016/01/13:23:59:59 CL 1059143  x64

CC 2015.5 Adobe Photoshop Version: 2015.5.1 20160722.r.156 2016/07/22:23:00:00 CL 1083377  x64

CC 2017 Adobe Photoshop Version: 2017.0.1 20161130.r.29 2016/11/30:23:00:00 CL 1099099  x64

IMO the one to use is CC 2014

Hi JJMack and thank you for the reply.

You are right and I would probably solve the issue doing that. However it doesn't make much sense to me since, as you said, I am a subscriber and furthermore I work with Adobe products on the daily basis. I pay for new features and I am expecting them to work.
I'm totally fine with some bugs here and there, I know how hard can be to keep something constantly updated and, at the same time, making it work smooth and fine. Thus all I'd like to hear would be "Gotcha, we'll keep that in mind!" and see this issue fixed in a not too far tomorrow.

CC 2014 is probably the most stable but I like all the fancy updates of the 2017!

Have a good day!

The problem is Adobe does not fix all reported bugs.  I have reported bugs Adobe introduced in CS4 and Bugs the are present in every version of Photoshop I have.  Bugs in CC 2015.5.  Adobe has acknowledged the bugs I have reported are bugs,  Some I have reported have been fixed. others they report they are working on, others they wrote they may fix is some future release.

That's why I have reported that, hoping this issue will be noticed and perhaps fixed!

Oh nice, thanks for the hint! Then I'm going to report it there.

There is nothing huge but I like all the little improvements they have made, for example in the property panel. Adjustments are now more accurate. Moreover they added some extra tools in the mask workspace and tweaked the patch tool, especially with the structure/color adjustments.
I work with 3D software and do architectural photomontages and I often find myself dealing with landmasses and foliage. I feel it became much smoother with the latest updates and I solved messy situations with ease.
In addition to that I find easier to adjust HDR images for rendering purposes (like to optimize em for dome light etc) or just using Camera RAW.

Honestly these are all things I could do with previous versions too but I find myself more comfortable with latest versions.
