Switching to Develop or Map modules cause Adobe Lightroom menus to go black. Switching back to Library and then to Develop modules is a workaround but must be used for EVERY SINGLE image. Map module is unusable as the menu are always blank when switching from Library module.

First thing to do is turn off the GPU option in the LR Preferences on the Performance tab and test.

Oh this has been acknowledged as a bug. There are several posts about it with some temp fixes. Should be cleared up in the next release.

Best solution is to revert back to Lightroom 6.6

For me, that's one step away from saying f**k you to adobe and using another software package. I trust Adobe's promises (circa 2013) to regularly release patches but useful updates are few and far between. Lightroom CC is still at version 2015.

But the last update was just a couple of weeks ago. This problem of disappearing panels is intermittent, and not everyone is experiencing the problem. Consequently, it's a difficult problem to isolate.

Hi everyone,
This issue should be fixed with the latest Lightroom 6.9/2015.9 update. Please let us know if you're still seeing this issue after updating.
EDIT: Conflated two issues separate issues and thought this was fixed with it. Please accept my apologies!

That workaround stopped working. The only thing that works is to shut down Lightroom and start over. Is that how customers should expect Adobe Lightroom to work?
