I have and older laptop with Windows Vista 64 . I use Firefox for my browser. It is the latest version. I go to the Adobe website to download the flash player, it recognizes my operating system. I click on download. Then save the file. But when I try to open it nothing happens. I've tried it at least 30 times. Any thoughts?

Hi kait7i7i7i ,

The Flash Player online/shim installer is signed using SHA256 digital certificate, some Vista systems do not support SHA256 digital signatures.  The behaviour you describe indicates your system doesn't support SHA256 digital signatures.  Please refer to the Microsfot support doc https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2763674/you-cannot-run-an-application-that-is-signed-with-a...  for assistance.

You would need to contact Microsoft for support on their Windows Update functionality.

Alternatively, you can try the offline installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows 7 and earlier  page in the 'Still having problems' section.
