After Effects Puppet Tool crashing program on Mac

Puppet Tool Crashing when I set second pin on shape layer.

I saw instructions on how to correct this issue for Windows, but have not seen advice for mac users.

my specs are:

After Effects Version CC (2017)

MacBook Pro

MacOS: 10.12.3

Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7

Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048 MB

Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Memory 16 GB MHz DDR3

What is the full version number is your After Effects CC 2017?
