Hi guys,

Long shot but does anyone how you would - using InDesign to export as an interactive PDF - create a text link or button so if the user clicks on an internal link sequentially in order, they can return to the previous page they read.

For example: User is on page 2, hits a link to the appendix on page 100, then they want top get back to page 2 and read on.

I appreciate you could simply create a page number/text anchor link on said page 100 back to page 2; but my document is more complex than the example used and ideally I would like an action that would remember the previous page the user was on (an automatic 'go back' button if you will)?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Not in InDesign, but in Acrobat, a button's properties can be set thusly:

On the Actions tab select a trigger and choose Execute a menu item from the Select Action menu.

Click Add...

Choose View > Page Navigation > Previous View

A "view" in Acrobat can be zooming in or out, changing pages by clicking a link or a bookmark or keyboard shortcuts any other method or anything that changes the view.

You can add buttons to the toolbar to change the View or change the View from the menu. Actions can include items from the menu.

If they click a hyperlink in the Table of Contents to go to a page, then zoom in, they will need to choose Previous view twice: once to zoom out and a second time to return to the TOC.

So adding a Previous View button work well in your situation as long as they don't scroll through the Appendix. Each scroll changes the view. Test it and see if it does what you want. They might have to hit Previous a number of times to get back to page 2 if it's a long appendix.
