Indesign Rectangle and text tool locked

Hello,

My rectangle and text tool are locked to drawing only a square when I create a new box. Usually I press shift and it will form the perfect square, here I have the opposite problem where the free form rectangle is not an option. I've tried the lock tools but that doesn't change anything.

Thoughts?

can you confirm the version of InDesign and Operating System you are using?

and you have cleared your cache and preferences ? (InDesign preferences and support file locations)

I have cleared the cache, it was kind of the default.

I am using CC.

We have even unloaded this system and reloaded it from the cloud. It is very strange.

Please rule out that you don't have a stuck Shift key. When you drag a frame to move it, does it constrain to straight or 45°? What happens when you draw a line—is it a straight line?

Try pressing each Shift key to unstick it. Try another keyboard. Try rebooting.

It may not be the keyboard, but it needs to be ruled out just in case.
