Anyone know why "stipple" comes up white when trying to apply to a picture in the grain type?

Everything else works in the grain types...speckle, sprinkles, horizontal, etc.  But when I click on Stipple the image goes completely blank.  I've tried it as a psd file, jpeg, rgb, and black and white.  It just goes blank, it's very strange.  Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Stipple creates a two tone image, it uses your foreground and background color as it's two tones. If you have white and white as your foreground/background colors, your preview will be white.
