Depending on which version of the XT you have you need camera raw 8.4 to 9.9

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

None of those are compatible with Photoshop CS5

Camera Raw plug-in and Adobe application compatibility

You therefore need to use the Adobe DNG convertor to convert your Raw files to the DNG format and then open then using your ACR in Photoshop 5.
