AS2 - How to unable buttons located in a lower level?

Hi Guys! I'm doing a typical click button that load an external swf movie clip in level 10. The problem is that when it loads and I move the cursor to the zone where are button on the root they still working? I don't remember what is the code to use. I did many years ago but now I can't remember. I only remember that the buttons in the root need to be grouped in a movieclip and from the external .swf say give the order to unable.  And then when the external is unloaded I they should works again.
