I had the OS on my Macbook Pro uninstalled, and an older version reinstalled, so that it would run faster.
We removed all the apps, saved them on an external hard drive, and then reinstalled them once the (new) old OS was installed on my laptop.
Now my Cs5.5 is inaccessible.
Any idea about how I can reinstall it so that it works again?
Thanks

You can't do it that way. You need to do a proper install from the installation files.
Uninstall and use the Adobe Cleaner Tool:
Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
Then do a proper installation:

When I double click on the icon to uninstall the program, I get this message:
Configuration Problem
Please uninstall and reinstall the product. If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.
Error: 6
I'm on OS X El Capitan, Version 10.11.6
Should I run the cleaner tool?

I have the same problem with CS6. I just got my computer back from AppleCare and they had to replace the hard drive & logic board-- (MacBookPro, Sierra)
I re-downloaded the suite; hit install and it says "We've encountered the following issues. Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem."
I tried re-downloading multiple times.
Of course, Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
