Help, Please!!! Lightroom 6 suddenly fails to start

Hello all,

I've had my first real issue with Lightroom after having used it since LR3.  Windows 7 (64 bit) machine, all up to date on updates, that has been in use with LR for several years.  LR6 will not start at all, it just hangs on the opening screen.  Never had an issue before.  After going through the adobe troubleshooting tips, I have uninstalled/ reinstalled visual basic C++ 2008, 2010, and repaired 2012 per the adobe recommendations, all without success.  This is a standalone version of 6, and LR6 has not been updated (LR 6.0). Any help is greatly appreciated.
