Can't drag files from project in to timeline

Hi, I've got this persistent glitch where I can't drag files on to the timeline anymore. I've tried a new project, running as administrator, restarting, deleting elements etc. still no luck. Any ideas?

What, exact, version of AE are you using?

What happens when you try to drag an element from the project panel to the timeline?
