Lost contents

All of my contents is gone: files, collections, etc.  Where are my pictures?

I am a none techie and am very lost. I have not made any changes to my preferences. Why is everything gone!

You have most likely (accidentally) opened the wrong catalog.

In Lightroom, use the menu command File->Open Recent and select each item shown there until you find the catalog showing your photos.
