Whenever I start my iMac, if InDesign has been open when shut down, and I go to use InDesign, the attached ID screen stays floating on top of documents. I have to quit and relaunch for it to disappear. I have trashed preferences etc, but it still happens. Any ideas?

Did you try signing out of your CC account and back in again?

And it that isn't it, next up is an uninstall/reinstall. And you should run the CC clearer tool in between.

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Which technique did you use to trash preferences? The keystroke option or manually finding and deleting InDesign Defaults and InDesign SavedData files? If the former, try the latter:

Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences
