  1. I need to print a 6 x 9 inch image at 300 ppi. The default is at 72 ppi. So would I just change the size and resolution of the image in "Image Size"?
  2. I have to print the same image on 8.5 x 11 inch paper with 1 inch border on all sides so the image is perfectly centered. How do I do this?

Yes you could, but you would be resampling up and increasing pixels 4X, but not adding detail. You can open Image Size and change it to 300, and try printing it. Is this an inkjet you are printing to? See if 150 ppi is a satisfactory compromise.

Best practice is to create/scan/photo the image at 300 ppi if at all possible.

Ok. So try a test print. start with a 6 x 9 @150 ppi resolution and see if that looks good.

If so, then we can talk about the 1 inch border.

ah the problem is that I don't have access to a printer until tomorrow morning and I have to turn in my images at 10 am. So I'm trying to format everything as best as I can now.

Sorry to hear that. I had gone to sleep before you posted your last message.

As for a border, I would use Image > Canvas Size and check "Relative"

Then you can fill the border with a color or pattern.

Think of it this way: an image file is just a collection of pixels, it has no physical size in itself.

A print size is assigned by the formula pixels per inch (ppi). The bigger the print size, the thinner the pixels are spread out, so the fewer pixels per inch.

You can do the math yourself, or let Image Size do it for you.
