How export a TIFF and preserve both layers & LR edits?

Assume I edit a raw file in Photoshop and create several layers. I save the file as a TIFF and return to LR. I then make additional edits to the TIFF in LR. Is there any way to export the photo and preserve both the Photoshop layers and the LR edits in the exported file? Thanks.

Rather than making your final adjustments in Lightroom after completing the PhotoShop edits, Make a stamp layer at the top of your layer stack in Photoshop, (Mac: Cmd+Opt+Shift+E) (PC: Cntl+Alt+Shift+E), then use the Camera Raw Filter to make final edits rather than using Lightroom.

Alternately, make all you Raw edits in Lightroom first before going to Photoshop.

The point is, as stated by everyone here, what you want to do cannot be done in Lightroom.

Sorry, Lightroom does not support layers; however, Lightroom edits will show in the exported TIFF.  To support layers in a TIFF file, use Save As from Photoshop.

How do you export a TIFF and preserve the Lightroom edits? I have tried and the LR edits, which only exist in the LR catalog, are not present in the exported TIFF.

While LR does allow you to see the layers in a TIFF or PSD you can certainly export a TIFF  or PSD without losing the layers. Just choose Original as the export format.

Send the LR edited TIFF to PS and save it from there.

With the TIFF selected in LR right click and select Edit In > PS. A dialog box will come up asking to Edit a copy with LR Adjustment, Edit a Copy or Edit original. You need to select Edit a Copy with LR Adjustments.

When you open the TIFF in Photoshop using Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments the layers will be gone when the file opens in Photoshop. You will preserve the LR edits but the layers are gone and I need both. Thanks for the reply.

Right I was just going to post that.

What you need to do is open the file in PS through bridge or PS > File > Open. Once in PS use the Camera Raw Filter, Filter menu item > Camera Raw Filter, to make the adjustment you would of made in LR. Then Save.

From your initial post I assume you are STARTING the edit in Photoshop although you could start the edit in Lightroom and Open in PS as a Smart object.  If so just open the RAW in Photoshop as a SMART OBJECT and then always do your edits in Photoshop using ACR by double clicking the Smart Object.  Save the file as PSD.  You can also do edits using Lightroom and Linked Objects so you can do the RAW editing in Lightroom but it is a little more complex and you have to keep track of reading and writing to XMP files.

Thanks Bob and Joe. That is the only solution I could find. Now all I have to do is get the members of the photo group I am working with to edit their images that way.
