acrobat 11 pro for Mac 11.0.19 thinks a downloaded pdf has a password. it does not.  Help, please..

pdf is a 1099 from my broker.  broker has no clue.  I know I didn't do it. tried deleting and downloading again.  no help.

Thank you. I see logic in your conclusion. However, the file is a tax document from my brokerage. So it seems unlikely to me that someone else had created the file.

Thank you.  I was unable to get to where I needed to be to reproduce the error.  However, for now for me the question is moot:  I was able to print the doc into a PDF directly from the broker's website.

Nevertheless, Bernd, I really do appreciate that you took the time to try to help me.
